NEWP awesome 1939 Walker 2-sided toner

*EDIT* I cracked this out of the old NGC holder and resubmitted it to PCGS. It came back 66+. Hey, only my 3rd one of those this year!

There are better ones out there, but this one is pretty awesome. It lies in an old grey border NGC MS65 'OFH'. The obverse pic does a better job of showing the luster, and the reverse pic does a good job of showing the color, which is 100% evenly toned on both sides, and nearly equal in color. It looks like an easy 66 to me. The toning is a bit iridescent and really shimmers.

This was cracked out of the NGC holder and sent into PCGS raw. It came back 66+ which is what I had guessed. This is my 3rd 66+ grade of 2016.

This is one of the others. (This and the other 66+ were both raw buys; this 39 walker is my first crack out and resubmit)

I really like that Walker. image

I bet if you tried to cross it in the NGC holder, it would come back as DNC. I think there is a psychological barrier in cross overs.

You did well on that crack out.

Cool, but it would help if you said what the grade was while in the ngc holder and type of holder, thanks! BTW great looking mere!

The merc I bought raw in a toned "au" year set for next to nothing. The walker graded 65 and the washy 66.

This 39 was in an old ngc 65 holder.

Nice coins! Too bad there is not a big price jump to 66+ in that date, like there is on others.

There are a fair number of 68s for this year. It's not worth much on paper so if it was a white coin I wouldn't have bothered.

I was also excited about having trueviews but they were too bright/overexposed, so these were darkened some and look much better.

The toning on your half dollar really accentuates the luster of the piece.

Very nice coin and an excellent 'one-of-a-kind' piece for a relatively common date.
