1952 Topps Mantle - Legit?

Hello,
Saw this card on Craigs List and considering making a purchase. I just wanted to know how some of the people on this forum felt about the card. Does it look legit or should I run away? Thanks in advance for all of your responses.

All I see is the back of the card but it looks good to me. So does the holder.

After looking at other flips of 2's, I am going to give this one a thumbs up. Looks good to me.

+1. The colors look off to me as well. I'd stay away.

The PSA label looks off to me. The letters in "TOPPS" are closer together than the letters in "MANTLE". And, the letters/numbers are very close to the right border of the label. Plus, the card's wear doesn't look natural, IMHO. But I'm certainly no eggspurt.

These guys are right. I just thought that color was enhanced in the sellers picture (which is common) and the font all the way to the right is something that I did notice but some also have that as well but after looking at the scans of the same card in the holder provided by these other two members above, the card in the craigslist add is clearly different. Definitely stay away from.

Stick with reputable sellers especially with something like a 52 Mantle.

As a general rule, 1952 Topps Mantles and Craigslist don't mix. Glad you dodged the bullet!

Pretty scary that you can't just buy PSA graded cards anymore without worrying about their validity. I always thought that buyer peace-of mind was kind of the point of third party grading, but what do I know.

Now does anybody know about pre-war. The guy also has a Honus Wagner Drum Back T206 rookie slabbed by SGC. The label is green so it should give the buyer peace of mind.

Looks like a fake card in a fake case. At a minimum, a fake card with a fake flip, possibly in a resealed case. The thing that is most off is the flip--font and spacing are way off.

Fake card, fake flip, real slab. Probably glued together. There are some good ones out there but this is garbage.

Edit: I would not by a PSA graded 52 Mantle on Craigslist or eBay unless it's Probstein or pwcc. (i.e. cardregistry)

This cert has been used on bad Mantles a number of times over the last few years. Sadly, this is not new.
