For my 36th birthday today, I show you pics of my collections for the very first time :D

Pictures of my card/game/book collections, and of course my best friend Jamiee image

Well folks, today I turned the big 3-6...yeah I know a 36th birthday isn't anything special but I thought it'd be a good day to, for the first time ever (which I should've done a long time ago but I digress) to show you some pics of not only my card collection but also my video games and even books!

Here are the highlights:

Left Dark Brown Shelf: Run of Topps baseball from 1975-2014, and in top smaller shelf with the group of six binders I have 1981-95 Topps Traded on the right (still need 1982 w/o Ripken) and the trio on the left is Topps Send-In/All-Stars/Rookies glossy inserts, Donruss Rookies/Traded/Highlight sets and 1993 Upper Deck w/o the subsets (I put those with the inserts in another binder)

Top of center (medium brown) and right (tan) shelves: Run of Topps football from 1977-1998, 1992-93 Topps gold baseball sets

Center shelf (medium brown): 1988-92 Score sets, 1994 Score Gold, 1995 Score Platinum; inserts binders; 1993-95 Flair (all 1993-94 inserts), 1994-96 Leaf Limited, 1996 SPx, 1993-95 SP (1994 is diecut, 1995 is silver), 1993-97 Topps finest (1996 is missing three silvers, no golds, 1997 is bronze only); 1990-93 (just got 95-96) Bowman, 1994 Ultra baseball/basketball/football; 1989-92 Upper Deck, 1990-95 Leaf

Right shelf (tan): Donruss 1981-98; 1992 and 1993 baseball/football/basketball Ultra sets, 1996-2000 Ultra Gold Medallion sets, Fleer 1981-95 (plus all Update sets except 1984)

On other shelves: 1991-95 Studio, 1992-94 Triple Play, 1987-88--1993-94 Fleer basketball, 1990-95 Fleer football except 1993

And of course for 1975-79 I was able to get almost all the keys in PSA 7 with some 8's in 1978-79. Still need a few 1975 commons to finish my set though...

Whew! I know I may not be what you call a high roller who can do those nice 50s/60s sets or whatnot but I'm still proud of what I accomplished so far. image

As you can also see I'm also into retro video gaming as well as books. A few of the books highlights is that I have all the Cats Pauses from 1985-07 and Media Guides from 1974-07 (except 1982), 1976 and 1992 World Book encylopedias, 1989 Brittanicas with the companion Annals of America set, all Complete Peanuts books so far, and much more.

And of course some pics of my best pal Jamiee. I know some of you don't like cats (both the furry and basketball kind) and that's okay...but he's still my best friend regardless and I have my wonderful wife to thank for him image

I know this is kinda a rough draft for now but I thought maybe you guys might like to finally see my collections. Again, I know it's a bit modest compared to what some of you guys here and at NintendoAge can do but I'm still proud of my journey/accomplishments regardless.

Really dig all the old school Nintendo games!

Loved some Punch Out and the original Zelda.

Did you know: "Duck Hunt" was originally slated to be named "Cat Hunt"?

They switched the name and concept to me more American friendly.

There was an old video store in my hometown where you could rent cat hunt out of their back room on vhs in the late 80s. Not sure if it is the same that you are referencing

I was kind of expecting a big row of Ashley Judd DVDs and Blu Rays.

Good looking collection. I love that you have so many Media Guides. Those (and team yearbooks and programs) are underrated collectibles.

Estil, we don't always see eye to eye, but I wanted to make sure to say this: don't ever shy away from showing your cards because your collection is "modest." All (OK most) cards are cool to the majority on here, and the quality of a collection is not determined solely by its financial value. I think a collector's passion is great to see.
  • Options
    EstilEstil Posts: 6,922 ✭✭✭✭
Like I've said before I consider it like a journey and I collect the cards/games/books I do for a reason, and because I don't often get to add to my collection, I ended up making wishlists/plans going back months, so whenever I do pick something out, it's almost certainly "for keeps".

And maybe with any luck I'll at least have the early 70s sets done (graded and raw parts) before...eh...three years and 365 days from now image

It's just too bad I have no one to pass my collection down to (for many reasons we are just not destined to have human children, just the four legged purring kind)...

NO, I love my cat and I brag about him (and my wife) all the time. He's my best friend and I love the way he snuggles up next to me in bed or even sitting on top of me when I'm sleeping/on the computer. Shoot, I don't even mind my shirt having cat hair all over it! image

    That is absolutely dead on.

Oh? What are you shooting for?

I forgot to mention, of all the collections I know about on here, I'd say the most interesting ones are the guy who does the Bill Ripken and other obscenity cards (hee hee like the one of the guy who enjoys drinking beer image ), the Chris Sabo guy and the Brett Butler (the player not the actress guy). Personally I have a great deal of respect for single (or married? image ) player collectors of someone who's not a big superstar.

I'm certain the Brett Butler collector would be thrilled to know it's not the actress guy.

Wow, that's a good question! Obviously I love Peanuts and UK books for starters and I do have a thing for encyclopedias (though I can only have room for a few so I tried to pick out ones I thought were the most interesting). I don't know if you could see it but you know that The Bible Story 10 volume set by Arthur Maxwell (you see the first volume sample at doctors offices)? Well I picked up an original set (mid-50s) for less than half what a brand new set would be!

I also am fascinated by those Time Life Book sets you used to see advertised in the 80s/90s (luckily instead of having to pay for them one at a time you can easily pick up the whole set on Feebay for much cheaper) and I want to get a few of those sets at some point.

I also used to have a few of those Wildlife Treasury cards back in the day...but you guys know I want complete sets of things and how in the world are you supposed to know if you have all the cards?
