Satin Finish Modern Coins

TyrockTyrock Posts: 311 ✭✭✭
Do the satin finish coins from the mint sets produced from 2005 - 2010 carry a premium over their mint state counterparts? For example, is a Presidential dollar with a satin finish worth more than one without the satin finish? I have a roll of them that came out of mint sets over the past few years and I need to price them correctly. Thanks for any help.

Your only source for such a modern coin would be Ebay. You can search the last 90 days on the sales of your coin to get your answer. But cutting coins from their protective mylar film mint sets, you have changed their environment and than the handling, the stacking, the contacts they will receive and from rolling and the adverse affects from paper, I imagine the coins will grade less than had they remained in their protective mylar mint sets.

The 2009 mint set Lincoln cents also have a different metallic composition than their mint state counterparts. I would think these should carry a significant premium.
