South Bend, IN

Friends:

I realize it has been a little while since I posted. Much of my time has been spent in a job search, which is now complete. I am moving in mid May to South Bend, Indiana. I have gotten a job at Indiana University's campus there. It will be a while before I am of a mind to collect again. Anyone familiar with South Bend? Any helpful hints? What are the politics like?

And, of course, please post any national currency from there.

Thanks.
Mike

I think the College Football Hall of Fame is there- And a car museum- Trying to remember which one

    ND football-

    -not too far from Chicago.

    What's not to like?

Politically, Indiana is the state of Vice Presidents and the birth state of the last Republican Presidential Candidate nominated at a brokered convention- And that was Wendell Willkie in 1940

Best wishes with your new endeavors

  • Sorry, don't know alot about the area. From my past history in the Purchasing Department, I know there are alot of distribution warehouses in the South Bend / Elkhart area. The good news is this puts you close to the Chicago shows. Lots of shows around the Chicago area and should give you quite the collecting area to draw from once you get back into it.
Come and see a forgotten piece of history.....

College town. Home to the College Football Hall of Fame, right down town. It's a rust belt city. Your regular Joe is probably a blue collar union worker or manufacturing worker (there's a couple of manufacturers in the area of consumer products) employed outside the city limits but the town has a heavy academic lean due to the several universities in the area and is reliant on that in terms of the economy. Close to Chicago. Close to Lake Michigan. Not that far from the state of Michigan, if you care. Politics right in South Bend are reliably Democrat until you get to the surrounding towns, which are more or less Republican (such as Elkhart and Mishawaka).
