Would you submit these for review?

I recently received these from PSA, and I feel that several of them are strong candidates for an upgrade. If these were your cards, how likely would you be to resubmit them for a possible bump?

The 'smudge' on the bottom border of the Briles card is on the case and not on the card itself.

That '55 Jackie is an absolute beauty! I think both it and the Briles and definitely worth a shot.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Agreed. Those are the ones that jumped out to me as well.

Does the Robinson have a soft corner or something? From the scans the grade looks low but I have had cards that looked tremendous in the holder but had a soft or a almost deflated corner and it was clear once I cracked them out what I missed.

Yes with the Robinson. No with the others...............just my opinion.

That Robinson is a beauty. I think an 8 on the Robinson unless it has a surface wrinkle that we can't see.

  • The corner that is hiding behind the PSA logo (our bottom right when vertical) is what has me questioning the Robinson. Would need to see a better look there.

I moved the card up in the holder as much as I could. It definitely provides a better look at that corner.image

I agree with most that the Robinson looks better than the assigned grade. I'd probably crack and resubmit. If it goes down to a "6" you only lose 10% of the value. If it bumps to a "7" you double your money.

I'm not familiar with the R423s so no comment.

Schmidt looks to have a slight diamond cut and maybe a touch on the top right corner. I think "9" may have been generous.

Does the Briles have a slight touch on the top right corner? So hard to tell with the OPC.

GOOD LUCK! Let us know what you decide to do.

  • The Robinson looks like it could be a 7 and would be my suggestion for review or resubmission. If it doesn't, I think a couple of slightly soft corners are what will be holding it back.

I'd look very closely at the surface of the Robinson. I have had cards with similar appearance that were dropped down due to a surface issue (scratching, etc). If that's the case, it will never bump. If not, I'd definitely send it in for review.

Resub the Robby card for sure. I don't think it has a chance of dropping down to a 6 so it would be worth it. Doug
  • I'd opine that the surface on '55 Jackie is the issue due to color fading of the yellow in the background. Still, I'd feel like a 7.5 should be on that label.

All but the briles and Schmidt have a chance I think. Briles top edge looks very tough, Schmidt has a slight tilt (not really sure psa's standpoint on tilted cards though).

All of these are great cards. While I love the Robby, I will only make a guess on the Briles. I think the rough cut on the top border will not hurt the grade at all. The corners and edges appear very nice. The centering appears to be within the 10 criteria. The thing to me that keeps this at a nine is the fact that there is some light blue showing above the top inner white border. This is a very minor registration issue, but maybe it might keep it from a 10. Still a very nice card. Thank you for sharing them and best of luck if you try to resub or review.

The Robinson is beautiful! Watch out for the MINSIZ though on a resub.
