Any Masons here that can help me with this?

I'm hoping someone here can explain. To me, it looks like someone was made a Mason corresponding with the dates. Am I close?

Cheers

This is an unofficial token which some lodges hand out to members.

The three degrees of FreeMasonry membership are Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason.

They correspond to the token dates Entered, Passed, and Raised.

A Master Mason is a full member of the lodge.

So, are you saying he was made a Master Mason on 3-15-40?

Yes, he was made a Master Mason on March 15, 1940.

The Calvin W. Prather Lodge #717 is located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

One could write to the lodge (it is still active) and find out who the token initials E.T.G was.

Also newspapers sometimes carried columns on Masonic events and a 1940 Indianapolis
paper might list lodge members or new members.

    Yep. WillieBoyd2 is correct.

Wish they had something like that when I went thru the degrees.

Tubal Cain, the Secret Password of a Freemason.

Apparently they have too much time on their hands.

The secret handshake goes like this:

Ex. (Pressing his thumb as before): "What is this ?"

Vis.: "The pass-grip of a Master Mason."

    Ex.: "Has this a name?"

    Vis.: "It has."

Ex.: "Will you give it to me ?"

Vis.: "I did not so receive it, neither will I so impart it."

Ex.: "How will you dispose of it?"

Vis.: "I will syllable it with you."

    Ex.: "Syllable it and begin."

    Vis.: "No, you begin."

    Ex.: "You must begin."

    Vis.: "Bal."

    Ex.:. "Tu."

    Vis.: "Cain."

    Ex.: "Tubal."

    Vis.: "Tubal-Cain."

Just emailed the pictures to the lodge. Awaiting a reply. I'd like to identify E.T.G.

    Good luck with the identification.

I have a couple of Masonic tokens where I was able to identify the owners.

It's pretty cool that you can enter and become in Master in basically 2 months. Is that normal, short or long?

Can't help you till you come up with the secret digital handshake.
