How screwed am I?

Sold 2 cheap notes that I graded a bunch of on eBay as a buy it now a few days ago. Discover that my count was off, and that I'm out of stock. Email the buyer and tell him sorry, but there was a screwup and I can't deliver. First message I get is "Don't worry, be happy" (nothing else). Over the next 3 days he continues to request an invoice with a combined shipping cost for the 2 items, each time after which I sent him a message saying sorry, I'm out of stock, and please accept my cancellation.

This morning he buys 2 more notes from me. I sent him an invoice for those 2, with free shipping, and again point out that I'm out of stock on the first 2. He pays for the invoice, requests 2 more invoices for the first 2 items, then pays for them without me having sent a combined invoice. I promptly refund him and send him another message + an e-mail.

I don't know what else I can do...any ideas? Have a feeling this is going to get me a negative or an "item not as described" case or something like that. It's a well-established eBay account with 1400+ feedback and an eBay seller of currency as well.

Cant you buy the same 2 other cheap notes on eBay ?
and offer these to him, sounds like a nutty fruitcake buyer.

Try giving them a call. That's about the only thing that can help when situations get weird like that.

Now that you're mentioning it, I was wondering about the Buy It Now notes that you sell on eBay and in particular the ones of which you have no dupes.

As for the buyer, ignore him. Contact him only via eBay and worst case scenario it will end up in the Resolution Center, or he'll simply lose interest.

A cheap sample note, like that Indian note with Gandhi that PCGS is offering with each CU subscription. Good idea.image

  • yes, anything will do - just an act of good faith could solve it
  • I wouldn't even worry about it. eBay is the one sending the "send me an invoice" messages, not him. Why didn't you just cancel the transaction in the first place?

I tried, he's not accepting the cancellation for whatever reason.

I tried calling this morning and talked to him briefly. Not sure what to think of it, he said to email him again and not to worry. Guess that's what I'm doing.
