To all US dealers listing Canadian coins on Ebay....

A friendly message to all US dealers listing Canadian coins on Ebay......
If you really want your Canadian coins to be sold on Ebay, please be aware of two things:
1. Adjust for the currency exchange: If the Canadian coin trends or catalogues for $2000, this means $2000 Canadian and this would equate to $1500 US dollars. Bottom line - LOWER your US dollar price. Canadian coins are priced in Canadian dollars, NOT US dollars.
2. Also, this Canadian dollar catalogue price, is like Red Book and most coins are sold at 60% to 80% of this catalogue price.
As an example, there's two coins on the US Ebay website I'm interested in, but the US dealer has a BIN for $2000 US (full catalogue). Adjusting for my two above points, I would have an offer for $1030 US (I guess there's no way the dealer would accept, but this is the true market price and at $2000 USD that coin will sit on Ebay for 20 years).
It's quite frustrating for a Canadian, when you seriously want to make some high end purchases, but you're dealing with quite frankly, out of touch US dealers, when it comes to Canadian coins.

Thanks for the pointers, I now have a few hundred listings to edit.
I might be one of those ignorant ebay sellers....So Canadian Coin News is priced in CAD...that would make sense.

I realize it's at least an instant financial hit of 35% and more if you follow step #2, but if at all, if you're wondering why your Canadian coins have not been selling, then this is the reason why.

And depending on the value involved, if Canada Customs agents are feeling wonky, they can whack a Canadian addressee with HST/PST & import duty. I sweated out sending a U.S. $500 eBay lot to Ontario in January, but Customs let the 13% HST slide.
Holy Cow! I forgot about that.
I guess another reason hampering US dealers selling Canadian coins is the added import taxes upon entering Canada.
What chance do you have of selling after all!
And this doesn't even take into consideration that famous US seller that prices his coins (yes, even his Canadian coins) one or two grades higher than what's on the slab!!
