Hi everyone,
Looking for some feedback as to whether or not to invest in grading several autographed cards from the 1995 Signature Rookie Miracle on Ice set and also invest in grading the 50 card sealed limited edition set. I would love to hear the forum's feeback on this.

The auto cards...I have no idea how to get a high grade on those. Most were flawed from the pack. The sides are super prone to chipping, as you can see in the picture.
Even though there are 2000 of each auto, its a heavily collected set. Compounding it is some sellers have ridiculous prices, so they are not such easy cards to obtain. It took me several years to finish, with finding the Herb Brooks at a decent price being the toughest part. One good thing is that they cannot be fake...each auto is numbered out of 2000 and must be hand numbered.
If you could locate cards that would grade at 9 or 10 I think there would be some premium since high grade cards are rare. But good luck with that. Authenticating the autos seems pointless unless there were additional cards beyond the 2000 that were let go by Signature Rookies. And of course, with that company and their shady CEO, who knows.
There are 2 auto cards of each player and coach Craig Patrick except for Herb Brooks, where there is only 1. Card 41 was never released as an autograph.
Subsequent Miracle on Ice auto set was released by Upper Deck, but its missing some key players I believe.
The factory sealed set? Is that different than what came out of the boxes? Great feedback so far!
I probably wouldn't grade the set because chipping is normal and its tolerated in this set...........unless of course you see a really nice card. I agree with the above poster that I wouldn't get the auto's authenticated.......waste of money.
I do know a guy that had card 41 signed in person and Herb told him that he rarely signs that card because no one hands that one to him. He said he refused to sign that card for Signature Rookies because there was a huge error on the back of the card stating that he played for the 1960 Olympic team but he was cut before the Olympics. So I guess I'm saying if you see an autographed #41 buy it to complete your set because there might not be that many out there.
Buyer beware Herb Brooks Promo cards on Ebay. I'm still trying to learn about this card but I've seen some posted on Ebay with a Signature Rookies sticker on the back of the card. I don't think they came with stickers on the back so these might be fake. The color of the marker also looks to be a darker blue too. The autos look legit but who knows.
