Bought 2 boxes from Target Today

I have gone to five different Target stores and only one thus far have the blaster boxes. I bought 2 today and will probably purchase 2 more, though I am afraid of diminishing returns. This is what I got out of the first box I opened:

1 stand-up Donaldson

7 Purple Chrome- Brantley ,Hererra ,Longoria, Cain, Donaldson, Cano, Synergaard, Duffy

3 SP cards- 429, 453, 456

NF Summer of Love

TN Clemente/Cabrera

2nd box- not so spectacular, but ok-

NAP Syndergaard

SP cards #450 Harper, 427 and #471

Chrome # 447 Crawford (950/999)

1 stand-up Correa

Two more boxes and I have a total of 87.00 spent and nowhere near a set. These days I buy a master set and then try to get the additional cards in set form, with the exception of the SP and SSP cards; I have to work to get them like many of you. Logically I tell myself to stop and take the more rational path, but the lure of finding more chrome or stand-up cards is tempting.

  • i would avoid looking at it as "$87 spent and no set". if you want the set, buy it in the fall. ive done that the last three years. Master Sets run about $140 at that time

Please, don't get me wrong. What I meant was that as I buy a Master set later in the year and I don't collect the autographs and relic cards, I really don't need to purchase the packs or boxes. The last set I put together by purchasing packs was back in 1975 when I was 14. Since that time I have either purchased a set or bought lots of cards and worked on completing them. I got started on the Heritage cards by purchasing my friend's extra cards and then completing them through eBay purchases. After a while when I realized that the SP cards began adding up, I bit the bullet and started purchasing them as sets.

Opening the packs was fun, but it would behoove me to stick with my current plan and slowly acquire the variations, SSP and box loader cards. The temptation is to purchase additional boxes to see what I get. This is why I avoid placing bets on anything as I could find myself spending more money pursuing something that I may not be able to attain in pursuing the thrill and possibility of getting a desirable card.

If anyone else reads this thread and you have any SSP cards from 2009 - 2012 that you would like to part with, please check out my want list and contact me if you have any of them.

What impression does other collectors have about the 2016? Personally I felt a bit disappointed as the 1967 cards were more vibrant and the cards I received seemed to be a bit washed out.

I haven't received my case yet so will reserve judgement on the cards.
Within the official Heritage thread you'll get more response. There are many active traders once more people get their cards.
