Removing a signature from a jersey

At the Brewers fan fest this year I got a Jackie Robinson day jersey of a relief player. All of the jerseys available were signed, though I would've preferred a non signed one. As a Jackie fan, I bought it more because it was a 42 jersey and not because of the player.
I'm wondering if there is a good way to remove the signature without altering the rest of the jersey.
The signature is in silver sharpie on a navy number. Any thoughts? I'm thinking about hanging it out in the sun, but not sure if by the time the sig fades off it will fade the rest of the jersey as well. Thanks!
