A giant hoard of brilliant uncirculated wheat cents for sale - SOLD

This is not the type of deal I usually buy. But in this case I couldn't resist.



There was a 60 year collection of coins that I had the opportunity to buy coins from.



There were some wonderful coins in the collection. After buying a goodly amount of coins, almost as an afterthought I was shown a bag of wheat cents.



Not your regular circulated wheaties.



In this bag they were all brilliant uncirculated wheaties of various years. From what I was told the collector would put all the uncirculated wheat cents he came across in this bag.



Now, you are not going to find a 1931-S or early dates in here. He was a collector as well, so even 50 years ago the really great and early dates would be put into his regular collection.



In a quick pawing through of this bag I did see a few from the late 1930s. Most were fully brilliant red uncs but I saw some red and brown ones too. A couple seemed to have attractive toning.



I bought the bag.



Well, when I got back to my office I thought- what the heck am I gonna do with this bag?



As you may or may not know I deal mostly in $500-up slabbed coins.



I thought of going through them for coins to send in for grading. There will be some worthy candidates for sure.



I thought of breaking them up into random groups of, say, 100 coins and putting them on eBay.



I may still do one or both of those things



But I decided to first try to sell the whole bag at once.



Well, actually I will sell it one of 2 ways:

Either the entire bag, or split into 2 bags (split randomly by weight).







The entire bag weighs 34.7 pounds according to my scale. So that means that there are a little more than 5000 coins in this bag.
