Mike Yeo fired by the Minnesota Wild. Wild have had to play their way into the playoffs the last two years and don't look like they can make it this year without a tremendous rally.
They did make it into the second round the last two years. Can the coaching change really make them a better team?
I hope so! Sorry to see Mike get fired, but team seems to need motivation.

Go Leafs Go!!
Getting back to your post, I think Minny is definitely an underachiever this year and if I was a Wild fan I would be very disappointed this year.
But from my first statement I'm a Leaf fan and missing the playoffs is commonplace, so how can I be disappointed after almost 50 years of failure?

I'm sure a few few players are feeling bad and responsible for someone losing their job.
Hard to believe that millionaire athletes need to be motivated.

There is doom for any participant in the Central Division not named Chicago.
Chicago will not win it all this year!

I don't think the Wild have a chance either. :-(
Come on now, JoeB.
They're undefeated since the coaching shake-up.
Seriously, they have enough talent to make a legit run at the wildcard.

They are already just 2 points out of a wild card spot. They have made it into the second round the last two years before being beaten by the Blackhawks. The Wild seem to me to be a "fragile" team. Plenty of talent, even though they don't have a superstar leader. In hockey the standings don't seem to mean anything once you make the playoffs. I just don't think they can go all the way. I hope I am wrong!
So now, who's on the chopping block?

Uh oh.

Mike Yeo was interviewed earlier today on KFAN, the local sports talk station. He says that team started playing badly when trade rumors were floating around. He also said things didn't feel "right" all year despite the team having the best first half record in it's history.
Guys that were supposedly being offered were Jonas Brodin, Nino Niederreiter and Matt Dumba.
Also some grumbling about Adam Oates watching practices. Oates is some kind of personal trainer for Zach Parise. Parise is being painted as some kind of a troublemaker here.
The truth is the team was playing horribly and coaches get fired before the players get traded. Sorry Mike, you were unable to do it the last two years and it was looking like team was going to miss playoffs this year (and still might).
I guess the Adam Oates thing was quite a big deal, according to them.
Back to back games for the Wild. Those can be tough.
Tomorrow they're up against my Caps.
Here's a couple of pics I took a couple of months ago when I saw them in Buffalo.
