Help ID'ing an error $1 FRN and maybe some tips on value ?

Lots of those floating around, nothing more than a conversation piece.

IMO, if you are into long rerm buying / selling of currency, I would keep it as an educational tool.

The disturbance on the surface left of the vignette had me rather suspicious, but not having seen one of these before, I was scratching my head.

And, thats a "Floating F" delistamps. . .

I'd offer him a dollar or two and keep it as an educational display. Might even have a display in your shop (if you have one) about how notes are really printed; and show this one as a "fake" error. Otherwise, put it in a mylar holder for him and wish him well. If he wants to spend it encourage him to spend it with you then you can have it for a display.
