PSA 8 Clemente & Aaron rookies recent prices

Pretty big prices for an Aaron rookie with a very rough edge, and a Clemente rookie with a big top border and rough top edge.

The edge of the Clemente card seems the most alarming. I cannot say that I would expect to get an "8" if I submitted that card as it looks more than a factory cut issue.

The Aaron looks like an "OPC factory cut", and I've seen much more leniency on that by TPAs. However, I agree with your observation that it's a lot of coin for cards that have noticeable "flaws".

The registration of the blue ink on the Clemente is horrible. Good thing he didn't play for the Dodgers, it would be unbarable... doesn't really detract too much from this card. Makes it look more OC than it really is... where the blue missed on the green background and you can barely see the yellow.

I thought the Aaron rookie was stellar. I love the rough cut. About the only thing I would criticize on it would be
the very slight tilt cut on the front. Still, it's one of the better Aaron 8 RC's I've seen. Strong price on it.

I didn't care for the Clemente as much, but it seemed pretty solid.
I'm kind of stunned by the realized price on this one. Stupid money.

I owned an 8 of this card a few years back and sold it for $4500. So who's looking stupid now??
    That would be me.

I can see the Aaron as an 8.5 in the future. I imagine it has been reviewed a few times already. Only thing to do is grow a pair, crack it out and re submit.

  • Sweet Aaron. It was discuused about the rough cut.

Rough cut edge = NEVER tampered with, factory fresh, pack fresh, no risk.

Clean edge = clean blade, perfection, possibility of nefarious activity

Better centering on the Clemente would have yielded more $$.

Last week one sold for $58,500.
