1971 Topps

These black beauties are incredible. I acquired some packs and decided to open - I enjoyed the thrill of the pull. These cards as you know are notorious for being misscut or rough around the edges. I found a number that I am thinking about submitting. I really only want to submit ones I think might get grades of 9...or maybe even the elusive 10! Would love to get some feedback from you on these. What would you grade them?
My scanner picked up dust, so hence some of the white dots on some of them.

What kind of packs did you pull these cards from~wax, rack or cello? Good luck with the sub!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Thanks y'all. Out of everything, I actually pulled these from those Christmas racks. I know these packs are usually just junk, but I got a few packs for pennies on the dollar, so I had nothing to lose. I figured that if I got even one higher grade card out of it, I would make my money back. I have another 5-6 cards from the packs that I will be subbing. No white edges, but not centered, so I may sub with qualifiers.
Love me some '71s as I am almost done building a high grade set. When I first saw the scans, my thought was 'these aren't from unopened packs'. Seeing that there are from 'Christmas racks' makes sense. I think you are looking at 7s (at least the Pat Dobson) and being that they are not high numbers, probably not worth the cost of submitting. They are nice cards and you are right that '71 are tough.
My thoughts as well.
I think if you opened an original '71 pack, the CU pack collectors would have a collective heart attack as it is the rarest of '70's packs and is on the want list of most pack collectors.
I agree. I have a number of bucketlist items regarding cards, and breaking a true 71 pack is one of them.

It's my favorite set, although it predates my childhood card buying by a few years. Actually my three favorite sets (1971-73) all predate the first packs I bought in 1974. I think those years had an extra mystique to me as a kid because they were around but were no longer available. Nothing like a near perfect '71!
Sorry guys, should have clarified about the Christmas packs first off. Thanks for the info - I have about 10 high numbers that came from the packs, but as usual that are misscut/offcenter. I pulled a Yaz card out that is going in my collection. I guess I can just hold onto the rest, or sell many of them as NM/MT raw cards...
Was the Yaz on top? If not this might be the first I've heard of anything worthwhile mid-pack on those Christmas packs.
I know the feeling, I didn't start collecting until the 80s... but when I first got into cards, my sister's boyfriend (future bro-in-law) gave me his childhood collection. They were all thrown in a large paper bag and consisted of mostly 75-80 Topps, but the great majority were 78 and 79 Topps. That's how those sets became my favorites of all time!
But I think everybody that loves pre-junk baseball cards has to love the 71s... the real Black Beauty of the 70s!
They call me "Pack the Ripper"

Ah, 74 was my first pack buying year, but 71 was my next oldest brothers first year and I remember all those 71s he had.
The Yaz was on top and was one of the HR Leaders cards. I did have a few semi-stars in the middle, but it was mostly commons as is standard with these Christmas packs. I had just a few packs. Here are some of the others...
