Finally, First Strike Cut Off Dates Posted

There was a delay in posting the First Strike cut off dates for all 2016 dated coins so far. The dates seem to follow the previous precedent of a couple day after the coins go on sale allowing for shipping time from the Mint to your home then to PCGS for grading. The exception is the Mark Twain $1 silver which don't have a date yet but there hasn't been enough time to receive and trans ship to PCGS.
Why the delay? Your guess is as good as any.

First Strike status for a graded coin is only possible for a coin shipped from the Mint in the first 30 days of release. You either have to submit the coin before the cut off date or keep the original shipping box from the Mint unopened as proof you received the coin in the first 30 days after release in order to submit the coin and receive a First Strike designation. As long as the original box is unopened and is dated before the posted cut off date you can submit any time in the future. So it's important to know the cut off date as assigned by PCGS if you plan on taking advantage of this optional designation.
Some people like this extra designation, others think it has no importance. Coins so designated can command a premium but not necessarily. Like all coins, value varies.
It's a personal preference.
