I couldn't spend much, trying to save up my money for the big Wybrit sale the end of the month, but I did mange to snag one.
1709 Bronze Medal for the Battle of Malplaquet. Fought between John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough and the French Marshal Villars during the War of the Spanish Succession.
Although this was nominally a victory for Marlborough the British and Allied losses were estimated at double the losses of the French, around 20,000. None the less, the French left the field and Marlborough was able to take Mons (which Villars had been ordered to defend) later in the month. Villars wrote to Louis XIV that a few more victories such as this over the French and the Allied army would be destroyed.
