Ay! Chihuahua!

This has, no doubt, been out there for some time, but I just happened upon an incredible website devoted to the Paper money of Chihuahua, Mexico. This may sound like a snooze for some, but there is an incredible gallery of examples. Many of these were produced by the American Bank Note Co during the golden era of banknote engraving and the designs of some are eye-popping. There were even two that featured vignettes of silver pesos on the back. I'll post one here -- note the
similarity to the format of the U.S. 1886 $5 silver certificate.
If you have a chance, I highly recommend taking a little time and scrolling through these galleries. If you enjoy American obsolete notes, you'll see a lot of familiar designs here.

Intrigued by all things intaglio.

Fyi, there is also a related website devoted to the banknotes of Sonora. The picture gallery is smaller, but still some impressive issues.
