Beautiful cobb just listed on ebay

Not mine, wish it was. That is a great looking card.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-T206-Ty-Cobb-RED-PORTRAIT-PSA-8-NM-MT-PWCC-/401062707070

I have to agree with the description with respect to some of the t206 cards of the legends of the game (Cobb, Mathewson, Young, Johnson, etc) being "undervalued" considering some of the prices of the rookie cards of Mantle, Clemente, Banks etc lately.

It is a beauty - Any guesses on what it is going to sell for?

It's current SMR is $22,500...it is well on its way to get there.

The registration, especially the face, is not particularly good...even for a 350 series card.

I suspect that won't be a key consideration for the winning bidder however.

I agree with you; it's all subjective, but I would not bid on it, due to the image quality. It has great borders, white and full, and great corners, too. I saw a red one at Heritage the other day that in contrast had the most perfectly focused image, and it makes a big difference when his face and eyes look the way they were intended. For fun check out the other one that's listed, I think it's a 5-- the registration on that one makes me feel drunk image

I wonder why a card like that is not in a new holder?

Looks like a new holder to me (PSA hologram on front of flip).

Cobb's eyes seem to follow me as I wander about the room. Eerie.

It is in their latest holder. Looks like it was sent in for re-holdering just prior to being put up for auction.

If I am correct (not an expert on T206s) but last time one of these sold as an PSA8 was 8/24/14 at the Memory Lane auction. It sold for $28,058.60 My gut tells me this goes for more.

According to VCP, you are correct about the last sale. Additionally, this exact card sold on 02/14/08 in a Mile High Auction and went for $17,800.00.

    STAY HEALTHY!

No surprise there. Waiting for the bid retractions to roll in now.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Is the registration really off or is it just the scan. The lettering on the flip seems a little fuzzy to me.

Registration. It is especially noticeable in the red bleed through into his hair. It is also noticeable in the eyes.

    Healthy price though.
