Legend auction is up

The February Legend Auction is live. A lot of very nice coins, but nothing for me. There is one NGC coin that I would be chasing if it were in a PCGS slab. I have gotten burned trying to cross NGC coins and will not try again.

Me too. These days, just crack them if you think they are ok for the grade. NGC with sticker is a good place to start.

Point being to do your homework and question auction descriptions as being fact or not.
Although, I will be following the 1942 PF66 CAM to see what it hammers for---just b/c it is so rare.

This is the first time I have seen toned silver Eagles

They had two beautifully toned silver Eagles in their last auction. Go into their archives to check them out. They are not cheap.

I was looking at the lots and saw a nice 13s Lincoln cent in PC 65 RB cac. Auction description claimed none have EVER been sold at auction. Well, I bought one at auction once. Actually a Legend auction in 07/13 lot number 42. Hammered at 2400 plus juice according to my receipt. The estimate this time is 1250-1400.

Yup! I won a coin from them as a result of trusting the stated description as fact. Only it wasn't.

Can't believe everything you read. In one of last year's articles Legend claimed that if you use their services you save on the 17.5% buyer's fee that everyone else pays. If true, then logically there should be no buyer's fee through their auctions.

I saw those Silver Eagles from a previous auction in hand. The coins look a lot better in the pictures. They sold for way too much money IMO. I like the 1986 in the current auction but I won't be chasing it.
I avoided even viewing the lots online until I saw the above post (I like nicely toned SAEs), so you made me look.
I looked. I was not impressed. I, as well, will pass.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Your link is to 2012???
Apparently so. Didn't even notice that it was 3 years old. Went right into their current 2016 auction page and went looking for what buyer's fees were. A couple of right clicks later I had that link from 2012. Go figure how the site set up got me back to a 2012. And I just figured they were trying to cut everyone a break with a 15% buyer's fee.
But to keep it cleaner, here's a current 2016 link to 17.5% buyer's fees. I do see now that it's linked right at the bottom of the main page.

Only 3 Walkers.....none of which I am interested in buying.

There are actually quite a few business strike Walkers in this sale. Check again!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
You probably misunderstood. I remember Laura saying that if you use Legend to advise and represent you at a Legend sale, she would not charge her usual commission for auction representation. I'm sure she never mentioned anything about a discounted BP, or anything like that.

Here's her quote from an October 2015 article. I don't think I misunderstood anything with Legend's stance on buyer's fees. You can tell me what you think it means. This is directed at Legend current and future customers:
So that suggests that buying a coin at auction (whether through dealer representation or not) is like driving a new car purchase off the lot....immediate depreciation. So again, why do they have a 17.5% buyer's fee in their auctions? If they represent you will they take care of the buyer's fees? If you start 17.5% "in the hole" by bidding/winning at auction how does Legend avoid that same surcharge when they are selling their auction purchases to you? Shouldn't the first step in auction representation include a complete understanding of auction house fees? (ie Auction Bidding 101).
Link to Oct auction representation article.
The consignor eats that (or at least some of it, if a portion comes back to him as a result of a deal with the auction house), unless the buyer is a schmo.
