Anyone have experience cracking cards from pro grading?

I'm looking at a card that's graded by pro grading. I would be buying it to crack out and submit to bgs.

I cracked out a 1996 Finest Jordan die cut embossed gold refractor /74 and it crossed to a bgs 9.5. That's the exception for the most part though. Point being...it's possible

I have had some good luck cracking out Pro cards. Especially the old vintage pre 60's.

I've had one pre-war card cross to only a half grade below the PRO grade and it was a big win because of that. I had another pre-war PRO card come back from PSA 2 grades below the PRO grade, but for the purchase price that was totally reasonable. These are the only two I've tried. I recommend you purchase with expectation that there will be a solid 2-point grade differential, and less difference is a surprise rather than a requirement for your investment to work out.

I've collected cards my entire life. I actually had a Michael Jordan 86 Fleer pristine 10 PRO graded cross over to PSA 10...I've had the card in a 1inch screw down for many years prior. I went to a Chicago card covention in 99"an PRO an PSA were grading. Back in 99" grading was kinda a perk to some. Alot of people were just understanding how grading works. Well I took a shot long story short an got my card graded pristine 10 by PRO. Since then I was very pleased. I've held onto my RC till this day. I read this article an there was some astonishing news to me. Well I wanted to find out if it was true so I went to a NJ sports card convention to have the card examined for cross over. My card crossed over to a PSA 10... so moral of this story is that "Not every PRO slab" is bad. At the time era there were only a few grading company's to choose from & they were kinda reputable in late 90s when their company 1st launched... They were considered to be like a PSA back then.... I can't say much else since then as that was my only PRO graded card at the time... Hope this helps... just wanted to clear up some noise with my experience!!

Older pro is better quality than new.

Many trimmed cards get by pro that will not pass PSA.
So measure card in case before cracking.

I had an older Clemente RC PRO 7 I cracked and submitted to PSA. It came back PSA 5 which frankly I thought was better than expected. So not all are trimmed.

FYI I used a small chisel to gently pry the corner of the PRO slab and it popped open "like buttah".
