New Approach?-"thankfully NOT BBCE Authenticated"

well what's up with this? I mean I know that it's better to be able to feel and smell the racks--isn't it???--but man what a great way to sell bad racks and packs.

not saying that this one is bad--but say what??

Maybe they don't realize that the BBC wrap can be removed?

I think its a ploy to get their unopened product to show up when people do searches for BBCE. I've seen a few of these.

I also think its a way to get more views...i would however like to mention i have purchased unopened from this seller several times in the past, and it has always been quality stuff. I think he just has an odd approach to the way he conducts business.

He is also probably a competitor of BBCE so I would think that he does not want another person's label on his product and is trying to steer people away by saying that they are obtrusive.

  • Simply an old school seller expressing an opinion via an eBay title. Not everyone wants or needs to have their stuff authenticated and mummified. Some folks just like to lay it on a little thicker about it. The seller being discussed has his own unique personality and I highly doubt he needs to use BBCE as a keyword spam to get eyeballs on his stuff.

Keyword spamming is used to get MORE eyeballs. In this case though, based on his other auctions, the seller doesn't really seem like a keyword spammer.

Complaining to ebay is just like reporting a problem phone caller to the do not call phone registry complaint dept.

No argument there. It seems more like he's flaunting his opinion regarding the overabundance of holdered rack packs.

He's not news. Been at it since the year 2000. Cash cow for the website. Complaints probably get taken with a grain of salt.

Wouldn't it be beneficial to send them to BBCE in order to sell them for their prices? Isn't it only about 10% of the product's value?

This seller was the subject of a post here a while back on some football cellos and some people including me contacted him. He's a bit odd to say the least bit I'd be willing to bet his products are legit.

This seller is familiar - does anyone know who he or she is?
  • I actually have a 79 rack with Reggie on top wrapped from BBCE. I will contact the seller and give him the opportunity to buy my hideously wrapped pack for only $300. He can unwrap it and resell it for his $455.

Whoa, wait a minute BeRoyal, this pack is a MINT pack....a MINT pack that has 1) the hanger hole punched, 2) the Reggie has an insertion ding at the bottom of the card and is OC LR, and 3) the Remy is severely OC TB. No way you can top the value that this seller is delivering.

Not that 1,2, or 3 could "diminish the display appeal of the pack." mind you.

I think his claim is the wrapper/writing on the cellophane takes away from the pack. I don't agree. That Montana somebody got in the secret Santa was beautiful.

This seller has a few Ebay accounts. He lists everything at extremely high prices for a day or so then marks the item down 75% to make it seem like the buyer is getting a good deal. They have different accounts for baseball, football, hockey and basketball. Every one of the accounts does the 75% off thing. I would guess that their packs are good but I will not deal with them because of the 75% thing.

No opinion of this seller and while I wouldn't pay a premium for non-BBCE, I don't like the wrapping on items I'd like to enjoy for my PC. The BBCE wrap/label does take away from the appearance, IMHO. If selling, I would want to maximize my profits so BBCE wrapped is normally the way to go.
  • I agree Larkin. I hate the fact I have many cello boxes I've never seen the packs because they are wrapped. I know sometime in the next 20 years I will sell them and I just can't see unwrapping them to look then paying 5% of the value of the box to re-wrap it.

To be effective keyword spamming you have to spell "wrap" correctly, not warp. Unless there really is a problem with grader's plastic warping the product.

I have reported things like this to eBay in the past and nothing ever got taken down, so I don't bother anymore.
