People like that really chap my hide. Sorry this happened to you. I would appeal the decision and see if they will take care of you in light of you being a good seller for so many years. Worst they can do is deny the appeal. Just a thought.

  • That totally blows! I'm so sorry to hear this! But yes, I totally agree with your point that anything that is of high $$$ amount you're simply better off consigning. Ebay/PayPal, or better thought of as EPal is WAY WAY WAY too favorable to buyers. I understand trying to entice buyers to your business so making it very buyer-friendly, but there comes a point such as this where the system they have set up is just plain WRONG!

I don't know how people sleep at night? I am not a big fan though of buying insurance and the amount of

the insurance is easy to figure out by the postal employee. Let's be real here, if a small box is being delved

and it's 17.50 in postage, well then they know it's something good.

Yes I agree the postage on the box said $20.50 I believe. So any employee that sees it now there is a 1k item inside. Pm's sent.

Yes, I really feel for ya. It's such a terrible feeling to know eBay doesn't care about us sellers. It should be pretty obvious by the feedback you have never sent an empty box. Is there an appeals process? Ask for photos.

For the record, it was never delivered empty IMHO. The PO wouldn't deliver it. They would put it in a bag with a note and then reliever. He took the card and is stealing it from you.

Call his local police department and see if you can file charges against him. They may not let you but is would be worth a call.

I received a letter from the post office about my claim. They want the box brought in for inspection within 20 or they are closing it. Hello I sent it to the buyer why the heck would I have that? This is a up hill battle filing a claim.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
This sucks but you need to publicly out this asswipe. You might find someone he's done this before to or prevent another one

  • Sent ya a PM. The issue of the postage being visible on the package got me thinkin'.

    Interesting update here again:

Before they closed the case I received a email from eBay saying that they needed a police report from the buyer then a few hours later I get a email from eBay saying that they received the report and the case has been closed in the buyers favor with a full refund. Well I ask then three times for a copy of the report for my USPS claim and no response. I then ask the buyer for a copy and he said the police refused his call for a police report saying they do not accept USPS claims. There is no police report but eBay claims they received one in issuing a refund from my PayPal account.

I believe because the money was in my account eBay gave it back to the buyer because it was the "easy" thing to do and then covered there ass. They flat out lied to me in there email and will not return my messages.

If in fact they lied to you, you have one heck of a leg to stand on. I would think they would need to provide you proof of anything they claim. I would contact the BBB and the AG regarding this.

This really sucks and is totally something I'm afraid of happening to me. I'm sorry for you. Good luck.

So have you actually called in and escalated to a supervisor or manager at eBay yet? Everything seems to be you just responding via the dispute website. If you have to demand the highest person up possible, once you get them say I have evidence that eBay required a police report , then evidence that they got said police report and now evidence from the buyer that he never was able to get a police report, they refused to get involved since not a criminal manner at this point. Make it clear you have a very well established eBay seller account without any other issues before, make it clear how long you have been on eBay and how many tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales and in buying you have done and that you have the evidence you not only shipped but checked the package in at the desk with the USPS for them to have to weigh it in and confirm it was a sealed package.

If they still refuse to take care of the issue ask said person for their boss or ask them if they prefer you to contact people like the CEO, COO, CFO directly via email along with the head of Media Relations and all eBay venues via social media to see who above him or her can help you out. Also ask him who can you speak to in the legal department at this time in regards to a possible civil case against eBay in regards to eBay fraudulently claiming they have received a police report from the buyer and you again have the evidence that this is a lie and you don't mind taking this before a civil judge to get a ruling in your favor in your home state.

But really, they will not return my messages. WTF why are you not on the damn phone escalating this manner??????? The lowest level CS reps handle the base level escalations via the website and eBay messaging system. You now have to do some leg work but if you refuse to call and escalate you are SOL.

Some of these may be old info but unless I can get 50% of what I recover for you from eBay you may have to use Google a little for the most up to date info.

It sure would be nice if we knew the user ID so we don't get scammed too.

It might sound paranoid, but I've even been tempted to video me sealing the package, showing the contents, with the address label and me handing it to USPS...for really high valued items.

With that said though, if someone wants to scam you, they will figure out a way. As they say, where there is a will, there is a way. It's like the people that go pack searching at places like Target, Walmart, etc. People want to beat the system.

The only time that I have ever returned (or been dissatisfied with) a card through eBay has been when someone was selling an "original" and I send it in to be graded and it comes back as counterfeit. I can spot them pretty good in the scans, but there has been 2 times ones have slipped by. Luckily, both sellers refunded my money and went after the people they bought it from. Both of these sales came from power sellers who had 99-100% feedback ratings and sell thousands of cards a month.

Sorry that this happened to you...its deplorable.

So how did it go with calling and talking with anyone of importance at eBay about this today? How many people did you actually have to demand to be transferred up to?? I am beginning to find it really odd that you are very hesitant to discuss the most important aspect of you possibly getting a reversal on the eBay decision which is talking live with the right people over the phone.

Did the buyer say the package was tampered with in any manner or damaged in any manner?

I wouldn't burn his house down...might throw something at it though!
  • The burning the house down thing is kind of joking, but knowing exactly who stole from me......not sure that I wouldn't find some way to make him pay for it.

I spoke/argued with them and bottom line if a buyer says they did not receive a item they are going to side with them. My only hope is USPS insurance claim. This is a challenge..... They want the box and about 3-4 records some that I do not have because the label was printed out threw eBay. ??

I spoke with a local postal clerk that I talk to every week when I pick up packages and he said it's possible because the postal price was on the box that a worker took it. He recommended anything i insure in the future to go threw registered mail only. FYI

Do your return labels have your name or your company/eBay user ID? I used to have my business name on my return labels, but changed it to an abbreviated name (OEB) to keep postal employees from looking at my shop and seeing that I have expensive items for sale.

A rather sad and scary admission although the indictment is firmly in place.
