Advance Pictures of the Card Vault 100 and Card Vault 800 Models

The prototypes just came in from the factory, and they are better than we had hoped. I wanted to share the first pictures of what they are looking like with all of you who contributed design ideas. We had to use an even stronger foam for the model 800 to insure that the weight of the upper insert would not adversely affect the cards in the lower insert (we also decided to reinforce the upper insert and form-fit it with the lower insert to minimize the amount of weight that cards in the lower insert would have to bear).

Key Specs:

MODEL OUTER DIMENSIONS CAPACITY (PSA Original Slabs)* FULLY LOADED WT.

100 9" x 13" x 6" 79 cards 13 lbs

800 23" x 17" x 14" 747 cards 94 lbs

Capacity decreases proportionally as the thickness of the slabs increase (as occurs with newer PSA slabbed cards and other TPG slabbed cards).

We have some minor adjustments to make, but basically these are just about final versions. We're probably 3-4 weeks away from having them in stock.

Enjoy the pictures and thanks again to all who provided design inputs.

Those look amazing. Any chance there will be a model in the middle of those two sizes? I would love to see one that colds about 200-300 PSA cards and or 150 BGS cards.

    You did well!

  • Awesome. Once loaded with slabs, about what is the weight of the entire model 800? Very cool.

    Nathan,

The current line-up is as follows:

MODEL CAPACITY (PSA Original) CAPACITY BGS (approx)

    100 79 40

    200 240 (actually 244) 120

    200M 225 (actually 226) 115

    300 400 (actually 405) 225

    800 747 375

The BGS capacities shown for the model 200, 200M and 300 are reported from customers who had enough cards to try it and let us know. Based on those reports I came up with estimates of what we should expect from the model 100 and model 800.

Currently product line as shown above has a pretty broad range of coverage as it stands, and with the model 100 and model 800 just entering the market we probably won't be looking at additional models until sometime in the second half of 2017.

Would appreciate any inputs if you feel there is a gap in the capacities offered by the current (and soon-to-be) models.

    Great Question!

Surprisingly the fully loaded model 800 weighed just 94 pounds (good thing it has wheels and the telescoping handle...lol). The model 100 weighs about 13 pounds fully loaded.

  • Is there a maximum placed on the weight of carry ons (on airplanes)? I know you pay extra over 50 lbs for checked bags. Id imagine you couldn't bring on a 400 lb case and store it in the overhead. An extreme example.

Model 200M is the maximum allowable ATA compliant overhead carry on. There is no weight limit for carry-on bags, but there is a size limit.

  • Wow, I knew BGS slabs were thick, but I didn't realize they were twice as thick as PSA slabs.

nice job Dave. May be just what I need for my registry sets. Have you set prices on the 800--and when available?

I bought one from 70's a couple of years ago and it is a fantastic piece to have as a collector. Great quality, nearly indestructible(I can sit on mine weighing 225+), protects cards and stores them neatly, and with wheels they are easy to take to shows. Well worth the money if anyone is thinking of getting one, and I trust all of my Mantle cards inside with zero worries.
