Selling Resealed Packs

I guess I give the seller a nod for at least being up front that it's been looked at and deemed resealed. However at that point I still don't like it will be sold back in the market and the next seller might not be so forthcoming with that information. Open it sell the cards and wrapper separate. Take the crap out of the market place.

  • one of those 59 tops football "resealed" packs sold for $400 a few weeks ago. It completely shocked me. The only reason someone is spending $400 bucks on a resealed pack is that he thinks he will get more by reselling it as unopened.

Nothing that seller does would surprise me.

So is the OP also against a legitimate seller selling an authentic unopened pack? Because those are often opened, resealed and sold by a buyer not satisfied with the condition of the cards.
Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.

Unfortunately the world is driven by greed. Alot of people believe if they have money they will be happy. No matter how they get it, selling drugs, selling stolen guns, selling fake antiques, etc. That's all they know. In the United States it's pretty easy to have a good life. Have decent grades in high school, go to college and take a relevant major and then just work at your field. Doesn't sound very hard to me.

However, most people feel entitled, are lazy, have no motivation. Their way around it is to do unscrupulous things, lie, cheat and steal. And for 99% of them their lives are miserable and totally unfulfilling. Sad, but true.
Work hard and you will succeed!!

Selling a resealed pack as an authentic factory sealed pack is fraud. I'm not sure what you are asking but yes I am against someone opening a pack, pulling cards, replacing cards, grading and not being satisfied with cards, resealing the pack and then selling it back into the market as a factory sealed pack. Once it is opened it is no longer factory sealed. If you are suggesting you sold a pack you bought and were convinced was authentic and sold it with the same belief and it was later found out to be a fake, well that is a mistake. I have hundreds of backs I bought that I believe to be authentic. No one can be 100%. You take precautions. You buy from established dealers, buy graded product, etc. I'm saying this guy knows it's fake. He either made it or got duped and is putting his mistake back into the market. I really appreciate he is up front about that fact because daily I see ebay packs that are nowhere near real and they are being sold as authentic but crap is crap.

I have to agree that the pack should be opened and the cards and wrapper sold off to recoup any money the seller lost in this deal. There's noway he'll even come close considering how much he probably paid for the pack, the shipping and services paid to get Steve's opinion, etc. It's a complete loss anyway he sells this, so why not just do the right thing?
  • I received a message this morning about the packs. I didn't realize selling them with disclosure would receive this sort of reaction.

I was being up front and honest that I did not think the packs were good and the industry standard (Steve) also did not think the packs were good.

The auctions have been pulled and packs have been opened. I paid the consignor fair market value for the items to ensure he was happy and ensure I could remove these fraudulent items from the marketplace.

Rather than complaining about these issues privately, hoping the seller notices your complaints. You should be proactive and send a message so you could receive a reaction and statement in a timely manner. I have given the wrappers to a customer and thrown the cards into a box on the side.

Standup move. If you don't mind, can we see the cards in the pack in order? A lot of guys here know sequencing and may be able to weigh in.

I applaud you removed these items as well as applauding the fact you listed them as resealed in the first place with the province of them being rejected by Steve. Sorry if you were the burned party by an unscrupulous dealer but my main concern was the next guy in line buying the pack then duping someone else. Well done for pulling it down. At least it looks like you got a few nice wrappers out of the deal.

  • I should state that I have bought from the seller before and he has always been standup with me. The cards I purchased from him always match the description.

for what it's worth 2 of 5 of the cards noted came from a sequence I have seen before but they are NOT back to back in the sequence.
