Still a ridiculous make work project to post here but it's a small sub so will cut and paste line by line. I picked up that old churchman set for $10 at a card show a few years ago. I know very little about it but they looked too interesting to pass up. Happy to finally get the Flair graded. Disappointed the Bret Hart didn't get a 10.

Great grades on the Churchman Howlers! I've always liked those cards and think they are undervalued for what you can pick up a set for.
Thanks. They are typically small cigarette cards. They were in plastic sheets when I saw them and I noticed right away that they were in very good shape. When I asked the dealer if I could have closer look he grabbed them like an ape grabbing a coconut - I cringed and asked him to please be careful with them.
Got to be excited to add a PSA 8 Flair to your collection. Always nice when you sub a card on your own that helps your collection!
Still learning about these tough to find wrestling issues. I saw this one raw on ebay - it was listed late at night and I saw it shortly after so took a chance on it - gamble paid off.

I was surprised to see that there is a Napoleon set on the set registry. When I saw that I figured maybe I had one of his earlier cards. Wrong. 75 or so Napoleon cards were issued prior to this 1937 issue.

There are a lot more than that, actually. Only a small portion of the 1914 C.Colombos Napoleon 100-card set are in the composition at the moment.
Interesting stuff - one of the reasons I grabbed the set was because I knew nothing about cards like that. Some of those early cigarette cards seem fairly easy to find but are usually very beat up. Sorta on the same topic I thought the article in the latest PSA magazine on the 1933 Noah Ark set was very interesting. I'd never heard of those either.
Yes, the turn of the century ones such as the many Ogden's sets are usually in rough shape. There is a staggering quantity of mech errors among them too, since the difference between the (letter)-base sets is often very subtle. You can't trust the population report at all on those, as there is usually a 50% chance the card you are looking at is labelled incorrectly. Some of the sets are significantly more rare than others though.
Here is a guide to help those interested in these types of cards (get out the loupes and pay close attention to the degree of slant angle on the italics, the relative size of the letters to each other within "Ogden's", the weight (almost bolded) of some of the text, and especially the length of the extension on tail of the "g" in "Cigarettes":

Thanks, this is very useful!
