Has there been any changes since ebay and paypal parted ways?

Is it better, worse? No changes?

Good question. I haven't noticed any issues.

All I can say about eBay is that the amount of junk email I get from them is ridiculous. "Still looking for that 1960 Topps Eddie Yost?".

Is ' I accept money orders' legal now on ebay?

My understanding is that has always been legal. The rule is just that you HAVE to take PayPal.

I accept money orders for ebay sales often. When I get them I mark item as paid and send the item on its way.

Money orders are no longer allowed with a few exclusions (eBay motors, Real Estate, Business & Industrial).

The Ebay "legality" with checks and money orders is you are not allowed to advertise that you will accept them as payment in most categories. The exclusion list above are just categories where you are allowed to advertise that you will acceptable them for payment. In restricted categories like cards you are not allowed to advertise you accept them, but if a buyer asks if you'll accept a check or money order for payment you can tell them either, "heck yes, thanks for the free money", or "no way, PayPal needs the money more than I." There is also no rule on Ebay that you must accept PayPal, but there is a rule that you must then provide another Ebay authorized online payment method. Since 99.9% of your buyers expect to immediately pay with PayPal, and have never heard or will use the alternative method you've selected, good luck trying to sell without accepting PayPal.

From a report last July: "EBay and PayPal will operate under a five-year agreement that will guarantee a reliable source of revenue for PayPal after the separation." Basically, eBay is stuck with promoting PayPal until mid-2020.
