Retail Blaster Box Warning

I was at Walmart and saw a 14 pack Blaster Box of 2015 Topps Chrome FB. It had a clear front and other bonus inserts. I hadn't seen this pack config before so I took the three on the shelf. When I went to self scan one of the packs in front slide and the inside of the box was filled with 1990 Score Baseball. I checked the other two boxes by sliding the top pack loose and they both had 1990 Score Baseball inside. The scary part is that the Topps factory wrap looked good. It was tight and had no splits or cuts. I showed the boxes to the Walmart manager and she told me she would show it to the distributor that came every Tuesday.

If someone can rewrap blaster these good, I'm done buying any boxes at retail.

This'll never happen to me since I gave up blasters a long time ago. 99.999% worthless cards inside.

They call me "Pack the Ripper"
  • I personally have a hard time believing this is the whole story since Walmart is not supposed to except returns on trading cards. Like you referred to, the distributor handles all stocking and Walmart pays the distributor based on actual sales.

I never bought the blasters. I discovered it as I was scanning the blasters. I brought it to the attention of the walmart manager so no one else bought them.

You can buy them if you want, I'm not.

Having worked retail for 12 years I have seen reseal jobs that looked like they came from the factory. Pros have ways to cut into the factory wrap, get it open enough to remove the contents and repack with something similar in weight and get it resealed without anyone really being able to tell. Usually the will split the wrap at the seams and reseal it also at the seams. This is why some companies started to stick tamper proof stickers on the box itself but hell thanks to places like China even those stickers are counterfeited and can be used to cover up the original sticker so you can't tell until you have opened the product that their is a sticker on top of a sticker.
