Collecting goals for 2016?

Happy New Year all! So what are your collecting goals for 2016? Mine are starting out as:

Complete my 1971 Topps baseball set. I currently need seventy two cards.
Try to acquire the final 1971 Topps Greatest Moments card that I need: Hoyt Wilhelm.
Maybe secure a 1967 Topps Tom Seaver card.
Start another set build: maybe 1964 Topps Stand Ups.

edited to add: can't quite figure out how to put the goals on separate lines!

edited to add: For me it is to continue working on the Nolan Ryan Master set and the Nolan Ryan Topps Master set.

Attend the National this year, it will be my first National experience. I am going to start preparing now and have the funds set aside.

Acquire a clean, focused 1951 Bowman Mantle.

Add at least 1-2 more Hank Aaron basic Topps autos.

Add to my Greg Maddux Basic Registry.

Keep slogging through the AROD Master set ...maybe get to 75% ... I would love to locate and acquire these three cards: 1999-00 Upper Deck Retro Inkredible Glen Rice and the Bill Russell and Dr J cards from 1999-00 Upper Deck Legends Legendary Signatures. Other than that, continue to advance other sets I'm working and maybe complete a few of them. I'd like to add a few more statement cards to the collection over the course of the year
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
  • Get back on track. Life intervened in 2015 and beyond adding to my autograph collection, kinda stalled out. Primary goal is to complete the 1974 Topps BB set. I think I am less than 100 cards away. Secondary is to get a good handle on what I do have and pick the next set to go after.
Collecting Topps Baseball: 1966-present base sets
    Topps/OPC Hockey 1966-Present base sets

Looking back, how did everyone do?

    Attended my first National- check
    Acquire 51 Bowman Mantle- incomplete
Acquire 1-2 Aaron autos- check, I think I added 4!
Add to my Maddux Basic Registry- check

  • Three main goals for 2017:

Acquire the 4 missing SSP variations for the 09 Heritage Baseball set
Acquire the 6 missing SSP color plate variations and the Maris Chase cards for the 10 Heritage set
Acquire the rest of the missing 21 SP variations and color swaps for the 12 Heritage set

One additional non-set goal: convincing my wife that my hobby does not consume an inordinate amout of the family finances nor does it take up too much space in our closet. My wife is a fantastic, wonderful person but also very practical and the cost of some of the missing cards concerns her.
