Books about a particular team's cards?

Hi, everyone--

I am a collector who is completely wed to a particular team: in my case the Cincinnati Reds. They are the only baseball cards I collect, but I find the history of the team and the cards issued for their players over the years to be fascinating.

One of my "someday" ideas is to write a book on Cincinnati Reds baseball cards that would include a checklist of every card depicting a Reds player before WWII. My question is this: has anybody written a similar book about a particular team's cards? It could be any team. Would be very interested in reading any similar books available.

Thanks.

the closest thing would be the Surf books that show every Topps card '51-88 or so.

  • Thanks, guys. The Cowboys book looks like it might be worth checking out just to see how someone else approached the idea.

I got the Red Sox one for my wife as one of her Christmas presents this year. image I also have the giant coffee table books of all the Topps baseball from 1951-90 and Topps football from 1956-86 but I figure the little paperback Red Sox book would be much easier for her to handle.

For a time someone was cutting out pictures from the Surf books and pasting them to cardboard with a stamped back that said they were Topps promotional samples. The SCD Standard Catalog used to have (may still have ) a picture of an example which it listed as counterfeits
