Post some notes that have hidden images in the vignettes.



This note (HA archives) has a vignette of the statue of Minerva (Athena) on the left. You will notice that her breastplate has an image of Medusa with snake hair. However, there is another image on her helmet that really does not belong on her statue. To me it looks like the face of Washington? Kind of appropriate for Washington DC.

    That is weird. You can certainly see a face on the Helmet. It would make sense for their to be eye holes as the full faced helmet is pushed up on her head. But it really doesn't look right when examined closely. I can see Washington in it pretty clear as well...

    Yes, I believe that Washington is there deliberately, symbolically as the Father of our Country.




    I'll bet it's one of very few notes to depict Washing twice in different engravings.
    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.
