Counterfeit.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
It is too mushy and grainy for the sharpness of detail.
Looks like a modern fake, but of course it can't be as "These coins just came to me from my mom and grandmothers estate they were great coin collectors from the fortys to now". I am sure that can be taken to the bank, at least by the seller.
A number of other funny looking nickels in their completed items like this 1926-D 5c - sharp yet fuzzy.
Also "mom and grandma" sure had an odd way of rolling their coins. But who can resist the absolutely true story behind these "MIGHT BE TREASURE" rolls (there's one born every minute):
"THESE ROLLS ARE FROM MY GRANDMOTHER'S ESTATE SHE WAS A COIN COLLECTOR ALL THRU HER LIFE!! MY MOM HAS HAD THEM UNTIL SHE DIED IN 2012. SHE WANTED ME TO HAVE THEM IN HER ESTATE. I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONDITION OR CLEANING OF THESE AS I HAVE NOT SEEN THE INSIDE COINS. THESE ROLLS WILL BE A GOOD MIX OF MINT MARKS AND OLD COINS. I OPENED A FEW AND FOUND OLD INDIANS, WHEAT AND FLYING EAGLES ALSO A TOKEN OR TWO. PLEASE LEAVE ME 5 STAR FEEDBACK AND THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR LOOKING AT MY COINS AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS!!!!"
"To Be Esteemed Be Useful" - 1792 Birch Cent --- "I personally think we developed language because of our deep need to complain." - Lily Tomlin

It is a bit grainy in hand, as has been noted, but what really stands out to me is the odd luster. Both sides have a bright odd silver luster. It is not proof-like, nor cartwheel luster or like anything I have seen on any genuine coin. The best I can describe it, is that it looks like bright silver paint.
If you look at the 4th photo in the listing for the 1919-S you will see it in what looks like a halo around the buffalo. That is the way my counterfeit coin looks. With a medium gray over the rest of the coin that lacks any luster and then the bright silver halo around the buffalo and in the creases on his back and in the tail circle.
If you look at the listing that was posted by WinLoseWin, you will see the same effect on the obverse and reverse. That is how it is on my coin. It is on both sides. My coin is dated 1924-S.
I also have a 1964 Peace Dollar and an 1871-CC Seated Liberty Dollar with the same type of toning.
I believe I am holding in my hand one of the coins from the same maker. I didn't buy it

years ago i bought some of these from ebay from a china seller when i was getting into counterfeit detection and was desperate for info. and before the ebay policy although the policy is nearly moot.
i now recognize these type immediately. poor quality, even to a basic trained eye.
