Worth grading? Griffey Jr

I picked up a sealed set a while back, and finally got around to opening it up.

Do you think this is worth submitting? There are some white dots in his hair/above his head ...

I do not do a lot of grading, and have never submitted any 89 Upper Deck, so I am not sure if the dots make this not worth the time/money?

Thanks for the help/opinions

I should add, a lot of the dots/scratches you see are on the case - not the card. The white in his hair though is on the card.

Looking for PSA HOF autos, PSA Vintage Red Sox and Pedro Martinez

Are they more lenient on the dots?

IMO they're surface grades are easier than PSA.You may still get an 8.5 surface. If the other three are 9.5's or 10's you have a chance at a 9.5. Most likely you'll get a 9 overall.

Likely a 9. Would seem worth subbing. Worst case is an 8

VCP prices may help you with your decision as well.

Sheffield in a TEN is only $9.00. The last few sold for less.

Johnson in a TEN is $30.00 Six bucks in a "9".

    Smoltz is $19.00 in a TEN ... $5.00 in a NINE.

What is the grade deduction for dandruff?

Seriously though, be sure to check the backs of the cards for small surface wrinkles. Seems to be the #1 culprit in turning 10's to 6's or less

And be sure there are no scratches on the Hologram on the reverse. That also, IIRC, can take a card from a "10" to a "6".

Thanks. Holograms are very clean. Looks like the RJ is worth a submission, and I may as well sub the Griffey JR since I don't have a graded one anyhow.
