Frank White before he became treasurer of U.S.

Picked this 1902 national at a coin shop yesterday and later noticed the Frank White signature at bottom. I guess this was earlier on in his career as of course he later went on to become treasurer in the early 1920's.

Frank White was Treasurer from May 2, 1921 – May 1, 1928 and did NOT sign your note as cashier of the bank. You note would have been issued most likely while he was Treasurer.

If you look closely you'll see a "J" in front of "Frank White" thus making him "J. Frank White".

    The signatures are similar.
So many notes to collect. So little time to do it.

Here's White's bio on wikipedia (which I'd assume is mostly accurate).

    white bio

Remarkably close sigs but the Treasurer In addition to being a governor of North Dakota, White was a pretty "big hitter" before he got the government job, having formed/acting as prez of several financial firms. After he left the government he was prez of a TN mortgage co.

One does have to wonder if cashier White didn't emulate the sig of his more famous namesake tho.

Ok so that explains the J. In front of his name and why the sigs didn't exactly match. Could they have been related?
