Wade Boggs # 26 to be retired in Fenway ceremony

Wade Boggs, who played with the Red Sox from 1982-1992, will be joining other Red Sox players so honored to have their numbers retired.

Took the Red Sox over 20 years to honor him, but, better late than never. Maybe his time with the Yankees was a bitter pill to swallow.

May 26th is the scheduled induction ceremony at Fenway Park...get your tix, great time to be in Boston and Fenway!!

I can forgive him for that. Fenway Park attributed a lot to his hitting prowess and he would have stayed, but the Sox had no intention of resigning or negotiating him. He had a miserable season the year prior and was essentially allowed to walk. The Yanks gave him the best deal so he went with them. Can't fault the guy for that given the circumstances.

This is the same organization that let Clemens walk off to the "twilight of his career".

watched Boggs for years growing up in maine. Great player and underrated on defense. We also had a young scott Cooper who Lou Gorman was convinced was going to be the next mike schmidt. We all know how that worked out....

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
