What a MELT DOWN !!!

If I were Goodell, he'd get a 2-game sit and mandatory counseling, perhaps some psychiatric help.

Yo, Odell...what about the other 52 guys on the T E A M?

Saw part of it on the news. I have always wondered why a player is not immediately ejected from a game when it's OBVIOUS he is trying to injure another player.

I agree with a minimum 2 game suspension for the cowardly helmet on helmet hit.

Sad to see such a talented player be such a TOOL!

He shouldnt have been allowed to finish the game. He should have been ejected fairly early. Minimum 2 game suspension should happen just cause of the number of incidents he caused in a single game, but he will most likely get one.

Yup, he got one game. I doubt it will faze him in the least.

C'mon Tim, you know he had to get something, he was seriously off the charts crazy yesterday!

Could be coal in your stocking Friday, surely you couldn't condone this kinda crap, fantasy championship or not.

NFL makes a lot of noise about the new rules protecting the players. Any player who tries to intentionally hurt another should be immediately ejected from the game. In this case he should have been ejected before his cheap shot as he had been called for major penalties in going after the same player two or three times.

The coaching staff bears some responsibility here too. If they can't or won't get the player to stop behaving like this (sometimes they actually encourage it) they should be fined and/or suspended too.

In the Vikings game a player took a shot at Bridgewaters' knees. Teddy was hit in the head and knocked unconscious a few games ago while he was sliding.

Start kicking these players out of the game and I'll bet they adjust their behavior. 15 yard penalties are not deterring these illegal hits. It's even less than that if you do it in the "red zone" or on a play that results in a touchdown. OH BOY 15 yards on the next kick-off, most of the time that's nothing, they get to start at the 20 after the kick goes out of the end zone.

One game here is not enough.

The officials should be suspended too.

Agreed. I remember watching the "bountygate" game. Time after time Favre was hit cheap shots, after one vicious shot one of the announcers said "another bad hit on Brett Favre" to which the other announcer replied; "they just called a roughing the passer penalty, if they call another the crowd will riot". GREAT..........they stop calling the penalties if you cheap shot on every play. Sure glad the "Saints" won the super bowl. They REALLY deserved it!

  • I guess the real ODB has now stood up. At the beginning of the season his own teammates as well as others said he was whining and complaining that he wasn't getting the catches he deserved. And now this. Use to like him . But I guess the Mdden cover and off season parties and awards have gone to his head. Now behaving like a child or diva that he is.

To be fair. They have it on pregame videos. The Panthers brought a black bat onto the field., threatened his career, and some homophobic slurs. So as usual there are 2 sides to everything. But on his side, he is clearly wrong. 1 game first offense is probably fair enuf.

They've been bringing a bat out during pregame for a few weeks now.

Glad he only got 1 game because being accused of deflating a ball by .0001 psi is so much worse than trying to deliberately hurt another player

Don't understand the bat thing, he was the one who tried to end someone's career, and who cares if someone makes an ignorant remark, trying to injure them proves you are an even more ignorant jerk. This kind of reminds me of a scene from "Slapshot"! Opponents are REALLY going to give him "the business" now. ODB needs to grow up!

In light of the current concussion protocol and efforts to protect players there should be something really strict for a flagrant foul like that. He should have been ejected from the game, suspended for the rest of the season and then brought in during the off season for a review before he plays again. Maybe even anger management, as the campaign to excuse him and paint him as a victim is already underway.

    Shame on you, Michael Irvin.

It was a cheap shot (but still one that caused no injury) but the way some of the self righteous are excoriating the guy, you'd think the guy murdered somebody. The outrage is becoming hyperbolic at this point. And then there's a guy who was actually complicit in a murder lecturing ODB? Shame on you, Ray Lewis.

That it caused no injury is simply dumb luck. It doesn't lessen the intent or the outrageousness of the hit. That hit could easily have paralyzed both guys. That's the thing to focus on, not the "well, nobody got injured" part.

    Agree on Ray Lewis though.

The thing about Ray Lewis that amazes me is that he is in broadcasting at all . He sounds like a moron every time he opens his mouth. There are so many other former players that are so much more articulate than he is that should have that job.

I wonder if he has the goods on someone and blackmailed his way into that job.

The murder thing is also amazing , he acts as though the world forgot all about that and has no reason to doubt his moral pronouncements.
