Kobe bites the dust? Give me a break! Just because he MISSED the shot doesn't mean he lost the ENTIRE game for the Lakers! You people bore me....he plays a GREAT overall game and scored 30 and STILL doesn't get any credit...it's not Kobe's fault...he done all he could do to try and help them win...I do give it to the Kings though...they are a great team...but now the Lakers have to win the NEXT two...but, that's gonna be VERY hard to do.

Kobe played great but the only thing people remember is the last basket...he had a good look...just didn't drop.

Well, I don't ride his JOCK though! I'm a Kobe fan, but I'm NOT a Kobe lover. He MISSED the freaking shot! BIG deal! He had 30 points and had a GREAT overall game...what else can he do??? He played a great game, but he can't do it all...it's a team effort and he did all he could...bottom line.

Great game! What else is there to say? All credit goes to the Kings!

dude, im just messing with kobe freaks, i could give a crap less about kobe...jusssss a lil fun.
  • my point is that he was 1-7 (or 1-6?) after shaq fouled out..

i really think he should pass more... honestly... i know he picks up a lot of assists during the game (5.5 avg?), but they're usually early.. i want to see him pass more in the clutch. he often misses others wide open

ilya , tonight he didn't but usually kobe does set up guys for big shots. just off the top of my head i can think of winner by horry in the portland series was set up by kobe. and that was a huge shot
  • Derrick, you ask "he had a great game, what else could he do?" HOW ABOUT HIT THE SHOT THAT WINS THEM THE GAME????? You guys say he's so clutch and yadda yadda, and then you act like him missing the game winning shot is no big deal whatsoever. Make up your freaking mind

  • Kobecollector---- are you dumb or blind?? Kobe did NOT set up Horrys shot!! Where did you come up with that?? Kobe drove in and had his shot blocked or altered by Divac, and then Divac tipped the ball out to Horry, how in the heck do you get Kobe setting up that shot??

  • KOBEcollector, that's 1 game, c'mon..

but i mean in general, dont you agree that he usually doesn't pass in the clutch as much as he does through out the rest of the game?

btw, Jerick, what they're trying to say, is it's 1 shot. but to me, i think he was 1-6 when SHAQ went out, and i'd say that's when clutch started...

Dude, he got a CHANCE and happened to MISS the d@mn shot! The guy DID ALL HE COULD to help this team win the game. Once again, he gets NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for what does to help this team. They guy scored 30 points, and tried his best...what else can you say? NOTHING. It's not a ONE MAN TEAM...Kobe got the chance to win the game because he's done it so many times before...but, unfortunately, this time, he came up empty. NO ONE remembers the shots that Michael Jordan missed...you always remember the one's he HIT. Same with any player...but unfortunately you just can't hit them all. It's called being "human". He had a great overall game, but still gets no credit. Geez...

Oh by the way, KOBEcollector was talking about in Portland when Kobe set up Horry for the shot to win the game...
  • I agree with Derrick! ( What the heck am I saying ) Kobe did everything he could. The Lakers bench stunk the place up.

  • Sorry about confusing what play KOBEcollector was talking about. I will say that Kobe was MUGGED on the possession before he missed the game winner, and then Bibby traveled, and then it looked like Webber knocked the ball out of bounds, and none of the right calls were made. Also, the Lakers bench was HORRIBLE. Kobe had a good game, you guys (maybe not so much you Derrick) act like Kobe is the greatest clutch player in history, but then when he has the ball in his hands with the game on the line in a one-on-one situation and doesn't pull it out, you guys blow it off like no biggie, it's just a double standard

yeah, well for one, I'm FAR from being a Kobe LOVER. I'm a big fan, but there's a big difference in being a Kobe "fan" and a Kobe "jock rider"! lol...That's totally not me. I KNOW that Kobe is not the biggest clutch player ever. But, they don't call Kobe "Mr. Clutch" for NOTHING. I mean, he HAS had some big moments in this playoffs and playoffs from the past to where he makes the BIG clutch shots, defense, etc., etc. BUT, like I said before...Is MJ remembered for the shots he MISSED? I don't think so. Did MJ MISS a lot of shots at the end to try and win the game? Yes he did! Everyone remembers the shots he MAKES for the clutch win...it's like that with every player that there ever was! Kobe Bryant IS a clutch player...but he happened to MISS one tonight...and the Lakers lost the game. Plain and simple. That doesn't mean he's NOT a clutch player still...because he is. He's "human"...and can't do it all by himself.
  • It is to early to call Kobe a clutch player. He has not made enough of the game winning shots to qualify, yet. If he can continue I will then say he is a clutch player. The fact that he is 23 is scary but without Shaq, Kobe will not be as good. Teams will double down on him always. He needs another go to guy. MJ had Pippen. Before Pippen MJ was a great player but never won anything. Shaq does not have long for the game. His health problems will maybe give him 1 or 2 more years.

To early? He's made LOADS of clutch shots and plays already and he's only 23 years old! It's not like it's just the fans who calls him a clutch player. It's many others NBA players, broadcasters, NBA writers, etc. Of course Kobe wouldn't be as good without Shaq in a winning stand point, but he'd get more points, have better averages, and so forth, but that's not what he's all about (he says). Kobe wants to win, and trust me, if Shaq were to get traded or if he retired, then you actually think they are gonna let all that money go to waste? HELL NO!!! They are going to go out and get more players to help Kobe.
  • Derrick, Kobe's stats won't all go up like you're implying. His points and rebounds would probably go up, but his assists would drop and his shooting percentage would go down BIG-TIME. Shaq opens the floor for Kobe, Shaq gets Kobe easy shots, Shaq draws double-teams rather than Kobe doing so.

I kinda agree with Derrick on this one even though im a Kings fan, Kobe had a good game and them losing isint all his fault just because he missed the final shot.

I hope for the best but am prepared for the worst, the Kings still have more games to play against the Lakers and its not over yet, Im not gonna relax (or talk anymore trash image ) untill it is.

that's exactly what I'm thinking too Graham.. finally a wise fan image

  • Kobe is an awesome player, without a doubt. But 11-29 3 Assists and 5 Turn Overs is not a good game. Scoring points isn't everything. Just becuase he scores 30 points doesn't mean he had a good game. Shooting 11-29 is awful. Kobe consistantly has games like this and people consistantly call them good games when they are not. There is no reason Kobe shouldn't shoot above 45% every game. He gets tons of open/good looks with Shaq drawing all the attention inside. The fact is he's kind of like another Iverson. Show me any NBA player shoots 29 shots a game and I'll show you someone that always scores 30 points or more. If Bibby shot 29 times he probably would have had 40 points, but Bibby is a much better shooter then Kobe. I seem to recall Bibby breaking Kobe's ankles a few times during this series as well. They play 2 different games so no point in comparing them.

If Shaq left Kobe there is no way his field goal percentage would go up. His field goal percentage is already awful and he gets open looks all day with Shaq drawing attention. Without Shaq there to draw attention he would have an even harder time at getting open looks.

Speaking of open looks, the shot he missed last night was not an open look. Bobby Jackson had his arm and hand hovering over Kobe's eyes/face before he got the shot off. I don't even think Kobe could see the basket, or passing to a teamate for that matter.

Your wrong and your right, in a few ways! 11-29, yes, is not a good percentage...but saying he's like Iverson is like comparing apples to oranges. Kobe Bryant makes things happen...he doesn't just go out there and score. He has assists, rebounds, and even key BLOCKS as well. That's why the call him the best over-all player in the NBA today, just because of that fact. During the regular season, Kobe shot 47% and Iverson shot 39%! That's a HUGE difference there. He might be shooting it low in this playoffs, but no one is perfect. No one said anything last year when he LEAD the Lakers in many categories. People say he doesn't contribute, and they mainly say that because they just like to be haters and bash for the hell of it. Averaging 29.4 PPG, 6+ APG, and 6+ RPG is DEFINITELY helping a team...if someone those numbers suck...then your obviously kidding yourself.

In these playoffs, he's not as selfish as he usually is. Yeah, 5 TO's in the last game might seem like a lot...but when you think about it, it's not really that bad. He averages around 3 TO's per game. You have to take into count that sometimes when he passes the ball, the teammate might let it go thru their hands by accident, and then they charge that too Kobe as a "TO", when it should be the other way around. There's MANY players that average more TO/Game than Kobe Bryant...so that stat is basically useless. Stop the hating, and appreciate the best overall player in the NBA today...and he's 23 and not even in his prime yet...geez...that's scary.

    GO LAKERS!

just had to disagree with the comment that kobe seems to always get easy shots due to shaq. yes shaq gets doubled quite often but do you think teams are dumb enough to double with kobe's man. thats not usually what happens. i've seen just about every game kobe has ever played in the nba and theres not many players in the league that take more shots with such a degree of dificulty than kobe. some of the deep turn around jumpers he takes are pretty tough shots. kobe is being made out to sound like he's a spot up shooter taking wide open shots regulary and thats not the case.
