This coin needs to be seen in hand as the luster is crazy strong through a deep burgundy and blue patina. $495

This coin has without a doubt circulated through dozens of churches, a few brothels, and countless saloons, and once purchased a pint of Boston's finest, a pair of shoes for a young child, and countless cups of coffee. It was carried into the war of 1812 in an officer's pocket, was won and lost in a dozen Civil War card games, and was more than 100 years old when WWI started. Think of the stories it could tell! Today, some 210 years after its birth, it has been scrutinized by world-class graders, passed the sniffer with flying colors, and has been assigned to what might be its final resting place.

I rescued it from a pawn shop junk bin and submitted it to fill out my set of eight "free" submissions (with the free TrueView). Maybe its only claim to fame is being the poorest gradable basal-state coin imaginable, with the reverse showing only faint traces of "AMERICA" and a few bars of the eagle's shield.

Oddly enough, the TrueView folks got the reverse upside-down, I think, but it's a little hard to know for sure. I think it's a 4-Berry coin, but it also might be the previously unknown 2-berry variety, as that's all I can make out.

The CU Price Guide is $300 for this coin with only 5 graded. Asking $225.
