Wood Chopper - at antique store, worth $80?

Saw this today at an antique store. Is it worth this price?

I would pass. The top margin issues and faded out seal and serial numbers make that note very problematic. I would only buy that for $50 max.

Considering that Green Sheet Bid for a problem free VG is only $90, I would say "Run, Forrest, Run!"

For $20 more you can get a much better example....I would pass.

I routinely pass on raw problem free VF 20's for $150.

As Charles Goren remarked when asked his secret as a contract bridge master player:

    "...when in doubt -- PASS".

This note has TOO many problems, therefore I would pass.

Must be a Parker Burke sig combo.

If not for the faded serials, I would say grab it, but the faded serials are a big deal.

Save your money and a few extra bucks for a nice vivid, problem free example. In this hobby, patience is key to finding a note you will be happy with for the long term.

I'm pretty sure the antique store has a wide latitude when it comes to negotiating on that 80 dollars. I'll bet even the most recent employee hire doesn't even need to check with a manager on that one. If you walked in there with no money at all and just some intaglio proofs, you could probably leave there with the note.

you could probably leave there with the note

Why would want an ugly note like that at any price?

Especially, when there are hundreds, if not thousands, of decent circ. examples out there to choose from?

Thanks for the feedback. I was not really in the market for such a note, but if it was a deal, I would get it. Glad to know it is not.

Unfortunately, the bitterness of the condition will remain long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten.
