greysheet pricing

PTVETTERPTVETTER Posts: 5,997 ✭✭✭✭✭
I noticed an error on the greysheet.
I then called the phone number and the lady told me that to bring this to the attention of the editor via email.
So I then email the editor and still no change.
This isn't rocket science.
It involves the 2008 silver proof set and the 2008 silver quarter set.
Since the silver quarter set is part of the set why is the quarter set much higher that the whole set???

I must say I am disappointed at this simple pricing error.
I am NOT the only one that noticed this and still NO change on the greysheet.

What say you all!

Maybe because the proof set can be purchased minus the quarters? Does the sheet say one way or the other re inclusion of the quarters?

I wouldn't let an error like this chew at you. It's likely a clerical error, and will be resolved eventually. In the meantime, may I suggest some deep-breathing exercises, or perhaps some light stretching?

a proof set MUST have the quarters.

there is no pricing for proof sets minus the quarters..

I've noticed dozens of errors ever week. Personally, it has cost me several hundred dollars in transactions due to bad pricing errors. One week a coin will go up in price without a plus, only to go back down the next week without a minus. I have noticed many grade categories that are priced "higher" at lower grades. Sometimes, the bid quotes don't make sense. Also, I have to find the never ending movements of categories and bid columns that seem to wander from place to place on the sheets.

I asked on the other thread involving the sheet and it went unanswered (last time I checked).

It's not called a proof set if ANYTHING is missing.

One of the points I am trying to make is that the new owners of the greysheet ask for input to correct the problems. therefore when a correction is forwarded to them why is there NO change??

Simple answer is only buy at the lower price. 2008 is one of the few you can resell over issue priced at a profit anyway.

I wonder if they are trying to update prices a series or group at a time, and collecting the inputs until they get to that particular area.

    truthteller, long time no see!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
