1969B $50 Dallas star compared to 1969C $50 Dallas star values

1969B $50 Dallas star had a print run of 128,000 and the 1969C $50 Dallas star had a print run of 64,000. Half the size of the 1969B but less than one-third the value. Is there a reason, other than it was the only $50 star for the 1969B series? Does the number of districts that issue star notes affect the values?

I understand the fact that all $50's in the 1969B series are rarer.

  • It is priced more since it is the only star available for 1969-B.

  • Thanks Jim. I guess that ties into the second question--does the number of districts issuing stars for a series affect the value--the fewer districts printing stars equals higher value for those stars.

It would affect the value because: If a type collector wants a 1969B star, that K* is the only option. For the 1969C, a type collector could pick any district they choose, and most likely would go for the cheapest / most available star.
