1989, 1990 or 1991 Upper Deck Baseball

Which of the 3 do you like overall for the design?? I know 89 is king and the original, but I kind of like the 91 design, kind of takes the best of the first two years and combines them.

  • I think 90 for design for me, seems like 91s quality went down

The nostalgia for the '89 UD gets my vote. It is king for a good reason, IMHO.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

89 is my favorite by far. Just brings back so many memories.

Tough call, the design on all three are so similar. It was innovative in 89, but felt repetitive by 91.

Remember, they did that on purpose, doing the first base line for 1989, then second base for 1990, then third and home for 1991. To go all the way around the diamond you see.

I liked the design of 1990 a bit better.
  • 1991 was on point. 90 seemed like a step WAY back in the wrong direction.

89 is the only one bearable to me. I look at 90 and 91 and all I can think is garbage.

    91, but none are great.
  • I'm tired of wrecking my back lifting 5000 count boxes of them. They all suck.

I like the 90 design best. I prefered the look of that griffey to the rookie. A better picture I thought

89 UD .. The high series was fun back then as a 9 year old. Best beautiful set to collect as a kid.

All three have great photo quality and color, as well as some unique image selection. Also I always prefer cards with team logos on the front. Can't go wrong with any of those sets as great representations of baseball during those years.

I would go with 1989 though as it clearly has the better player selection and I like the base line design on the border.

Too bad a Frank Thomas RC was not in the 1990 set.
