Does anybody collect modern high end sets? I'm starting the 2013 Spectra HOF 50th Anniversary set (1

Does anybody collect modern here?

What I like is just a handful of cards is released in each product over the years. The final set will contain 150 cards. I am curious if anybody else work on modern autograph sets. It just is a set think will be fun to build. I am assuming it would take years to complete but I am starting it.

Is there a checklist to this set? Are they spread out across products? Will PSA regognize it as a cohesive set?

They don't recognize the Upper Deck Piece of History 500 HR bat cards as a set

Yes there is a checklist. It is spread over a three year span. I can't get it to format correctly since the site changed.

Here is a link. Just scroll down about half the page.

checklist is about half way down link

I put together the 2005 Topps Heritage Real One Autos football set at one point but I ended up breaking it up a few years ago. I like modern stuff but I had to narrow my focus some.

I collect some of the sets, but modern wise, I collect a lot of the difficult to get insert sets

I'm slowly piecing together the Panini Classics hockey set. Lots of shortprints, and cards like the two Howes sell for stupid money. I am about 95% there but the last 20 cards will cost a fortune so I'm at a standstill. Amazing set though.

I've completed the 2013 topps tier one case hit autos...I've also gone as far as getting them all graded at a 9 or higher via bgs..5 were below so I'm still working on the upgrade of those but the display of the set is one of my favorites to look at.

Belz, you have any photos? Thanks for the conversation from all of you. If any of you have photos I would like to see. I did add #2 so I will post it shortly.

The other sets I have been working on are Spectra Football Illustrious Legends(25 cards)and 2014-15 Panini Baketball Immaculate Hall of Fame Heroes(22 cards) . I am getting close on those two but they are much smaller sets.

This is an older photo as I've gotten a couple upgrades since then...currently waiting on a matti fly and Gibson to come back to replace what I have up there as well...so tough to find mint or better as the back top corners and edges often come chipped..very proud of collecting this set..took me over 20 months at least.

The only modern set I'm working on is the 1999 Leaf Rookies & Stars Super Statistical Standouts. This is a 25 card set with the cards being serial numbered to a stat of the player. The highest printed one is Marshall Faulk numbered to 86 and the lowest are Terrell Davis and Garrison Hearst, both numbered to 5. I need 3 to finish the set.

Thanks. I want to do a football set...I'm thinking 1999 SP Signature as I already have 60 of them from when I collected back in the day...I also have a few PSA 10s that I've bought the past year...in addition to that, I have an unopened box that contains 12 autos(1 in each pack) I'm either going to sell or open. Your football set will be so cool if you complete the whole thing. Good luck!!!

My only problem with Modern, is I like my Mantle collection a lot more and might even branch out a bit more with some unopened sales..Modern is cool though...I'm starting to appreciate it more and more.

I actually started the set in 1999 put is aside for a few years. I picked up the Garrison Hearst a few days ago. It is the first one that I have ever seen. I still need Peyton Manning, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens.

James, I bought some of those back in the day...I doubt I have what you need but I'll look over the next couple days.

Here are the ones I currently have. Before I got away from collecting in about 2000-2001 I was into short printed sets. I broke most of them up and sold them off. For some reason I kept this one. I think I still have a 1993-94 Stadium Club First Day Issue basketball set here somewhere.

Cool, what are some of the tougher/higher end singles from the 1999 SP set? if you have pictures of the progress those that would be cool.

My wife and I talked last night about the Panini 50th Ann. set and she gave me her blessing. She said that much over a three year period is not that bad. As long as it keeps me interested in something. My plan is to be wise/patient and chip away and have it done in three years from my first purchase.

Heat, believe it or not I bought a Cunningham for a buck about a month ago at a LCS. Just thought a Cunningham low numbered for $1.00 was a steal.

Great plan regarding the Panini set...keep us updated for sure..would love to see how it grows...as for SP from 1999 I don't have any pics on my phone but you've got some greats in there like multiple Montana autos and Marino and some other studs from Jack Youngblood and Jack Ham to Priest Holmes and Jason Taylor...pretty sweet and grade very nicely.

Think I sold most of them...All my cards though would great 9's and 10's for sure. I think I have a Marshall Faulk and for sure Holmes (a few of them). Why, are you interested in them? I would cut you a deal on everything I have if you're really interested.

Oh, nah. I was just curious which you had. I misread thinking you still had 60. I am going to be busy and using my card resources for the 50th Anniversary set and the Illustrious legends set.
