World Paper Money author Albert Pick dead at 93

I read with great sadness of the p*****ing of Albert Pick at the age of 93. All world paper money collectors owe a great debt of gratitude to him. May he rest in peace.

Are you kidding me with the dirty word blocking not allowing you to say p*****? Seriously?

About to pronounce this entire board upgrade a FAIL.

MEC2, I was surprised also, so I guess I should have said DIED. If I knew how to edit the Topic Title I would.

    Hmmm, I just learned how.

I agree with you. Although he was cursed when he had to renumber the Pick numbers of the banknotes, it ended up for the better to organize the whole entity.

A superstar in the hobby! image

He definitely lived a full life. I hope I am as fortunate to make it that close to the triple digits.

World paper money collectors owe a lot to him and his cataloguing efforts.

A few years ago a colleague that knew him obtained his autograph on the back of a Bayerische Hypotheken und Wechsel Bank note for me. Albert Pick donated his collection to the bank and worked there for many years as curator of their collection.

The day I picked up an original first edition World Paper Money from my book dealer my

truck was stolen and my book was gone. Now my earliest is Fourth Edition, Volume Two, General issues; and it's not autographed.

A pioneer in world paper money. It's too bad his legacy in the SCWPM is not honored by those who edit it today.
