Union Augusta Alfonso XIII

Clearly came from some private collection, given the graffiti.

Nice medal, otherwise.

Curious that the monarch would countenance a portrait showing a mole.

I usually think "museum mark" when I see an old India ink inscription like that, but you could be right.

We've certainly come a long way since the invention of flips and 2x2s and slabs.

As to the king countenancing a mole upon his countenance, I overlooked it on the small screen I'm using right now and therefore was squinting at the picture in search of a small, furry, burrowing animal. image

PS- did King Alfonso really have a mole there, or is that some die flaw?

But yes, it is a nice old medal, "museum marks" notwithstanding.

I suspect there really was a mole. If you review images of Alfonso on line, he almost always appears to face left.
