its been a while since ive done a pack rip, and today seems like the perfect time...while others are out fighting long lines and gridlock traffic, i am relaxing at home and am about to open this gai graded 1973 OPC baseball wax pack...though its a 102xxxxx numbered gai slab, it looks clean as can be with a perfect seal on the back...these packs are insanely tough to come by, and ive been dying to open another one after finding a schmidt rc in the last pack i opened earlier in the year...results coming soon!

Thanks for sharing and I'm glad that you had a fun time opening the pack.
Think about the 10 year old kid in 1973 who opened a similar pack. He finds Stargell, McCovey & Reggie all in one pack. That kid is thrilled to death ... do you think when he showed his friends the cards they said "nice, but off centered"? LOL
Again, I'm glad that you got a thrill out of opening that pack!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
In the famous words of Eric Cartman, screw the centering, their cutting blades (on pretty much any OPC set) are hella dull!
I think they used piano wire for cutting.

Doug hit the nail on the head. Centering is not a condition issue. A card can be exactly as it came off the press and still be off center. It's a flaw, but it's a manufacturing one, and often given too much emphasis on this day and age. Any kid would've been thrilled to pull Pops and Reggie!
I totally agree...often times we(myself included) get a little too concerned with the monetary aspect of the hobby, and it can take away from the true joy of collecting

Despite the hairy edges I do like how the white(ish) cardboard from the OPC's helps make the colors on the front bolder (such as with 1975).
Rough cut is the rule for OPC cards from this era, as that was how they were cut at the factory~I would be skeptical of OPC cards without at least some evidence of a rough cut unless I pulled them from a pack.
