What VAM is this? 1878-S w/ Doubled RIB

I've ruled out VAM-6 (the common doubled RIB variety) because the mintmark is too far to the left, and all VAM-6 examples in CoinFacts have a mintmark placed slightly to the right. It also does not appear to be any of the three remaining "Doubled RIB" varieties (VAM-22, 77, and 111), unless there is another I am unaware of.

I could use some help here. Thanks.

Look for the wing gouge in VAM-16. I think I see it on your coin, and the MM position looks right to me. Here's the VAMWorld link.

I think you've nailed it; the die gouge is there on my coin. And here I was starting to think I found a new VAM!

    Thanks for the help.

always look for extra pups that may be listable and lead to sub-varieties.

but also remember, there are over 5,400 listings.

if you can vam well, you can do anything numismatic with some practice; although i concede foreign coins and currency is a tough mountain to summit, yowza.
