Where To Buy Tubes of Gold Eagles/Buffalos

I haven't been able to find any online retailers who sell the tubes of Gold Eagles or Buffalos.

Any particular reason for this? I've seen the tubes, so I know they exist....

I'm sure if you buy 20 Gold Eagles and the come in a tube the dealer will throw the tube in.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Buffalos don't come in tubes, they come in a sheet. Empty tubes are available at APMEX

BayPreciousMetals on eBay who I believe is CNT Inc.'s ebay store. They are an authorized US mint dealer and have among the best prices online and they are the largest wholesaler vendor in the US.

Might have something to do with the fact that if you buy a tube of Gold Eagles the dealer has to tell the IRS about it.

Buy a Gold Eagle and put it in your tube and tell nobody.

YEP, The Gov't wants to find money launderers and such. Individuals buying large amounts of precious metals will be scrutinized by the Feds.

$10,000 or more is the amount but I suspect that amounts slightly under $10k would be part of the radar.

This is absolutely not true. There is no reporting requirement when somebody buys or sells gold eagles, unless they are buying with cash over a certain amount.

Now, did you mean: "Where can I buy tubes OF gold eagles," or "Where can I buy tubes FOR gold eagles?" Big difference.

If you are buying one or two from a dealer on a regular basis just ask him for one. He will probably give it to you. If you do not have a regular dealer but shop around, ask one of the dealers you buy from if you can buy one for $2 or so.

AGEs are exempt from reporting and I believe it would start at 25 coins.

Are you sure they are an AP? I don't see them on the list.

I don't know the answer to the question but some of the answers speak to paranoia like a nice set of jugs speak to milk.

    call first, ask for David

I have bought quantity from these guys, no problems.

Always call first to confirm availability before placing any large online PM order.

You might also want to check the monthly bullion BST thread over on the PM forum. You can post what you're looking for over there.

Many places sell tubes of AGEs. Just gotta shop around.

APs get AGEs from the mint at spot + 3%. It's hard to find many places selling them cheaper than an AP. Also APs get stuff from places other than the mint, so they don't likely pay the same 3% depending upon market conditions and quantities.

The retail name for CNT is Coins N Things. Most definitely an authorized purchaser.

I know CNT is an AP. I just ordered some ASEs from BPM on eBay and they shipped from Brockton, MA. So it does appear that BPM is CNT's eBay store and I misread the post.

There are two considerations. One is CASH reporting in the amount of $10K or more for your purchase and the other is the metal itself and the quantities which are exempt or reportable.

This explains what you need to know.

Note that AGEs are exempt regardless of the quantity. A $1,000 bag of 90% is reportable whereas a monster box of AGEs is not.
